BatCaveLookingDown.jpg
As we entered the bat cave I was amazed at how deep the walls of the cave went down below the water line. Before we entered the cave we were swimming in shallow water.
BatCaveExit2.jpg
As we got closer to the exit of the bat cave I pointed the camera down. This deep fissure made quite a spectacular sight.
Crab
This little fella was about two inches (5cm) from one side to the other. It was skittering down one side of the pathway when we were walking the other way.
It naturally got frightened when I went near it to take a picture and disappeared into some pebbles. I was amazed that it didn't move when I uncovered it again and I could get this picture.
Stormy Skies
It rained a couple of times while we were in Bucc Bay. But the rain was warm and short lived. A cloudy sky over the hills could give the place a moody atmosphere.
Sunset
Buccament Bay is west facing so we were treated to a beautiful sunset most nights.
Our Plunge Pool
All of the garden villas have a plunge pool, sunbeds and a view onto the surrounding countryside. It was absolutely idyllic.
Countryside
The surrounding countryside is alive with all kinds of tropical fauna and flora. St Vincent is certainly a very fertile island.
A Fake Cave
Using the magic of Hollywood a cover slung from this rock to the cliff face created the cave where the treasure was hidden in Pirates of the Caribbean - The Curse of The Black Pearl.
BatCaveExit1.jpg
Deep in the bat cave it was very dark. Then you see the light of the exit. It's quite a spooky experience.
In this picture you can see Brendon just ahead (at least you can see the disturbance in the water from him swimming). We met Brendon and his wife Lauren at the resort. They were on their honeymoon. The kind of honeymoon most girls dream of (and guys too I suppose).
Leaving Buccament Bay
This photo was taken by the staff just as we were leaving. Everybody at the resort was just brilliant.
Coastal Town
One of the towns along the coast of St Vincent. The coast line is dotted with towns and villages nestled in green valleys.
Elephant Rock
This is Elephant Rock. Actually it looks more like an elephant from the shore.
This rock was used in one of the scenes of Pirates of the Caribbean - The Curse of the Black Pearl. The film was partly shot on location at St Vincent.
Location
Buccament Bay resort is nestled in a green valley right on the edge of Buccament Bay Village.
TropicalFish.jpg
It was a bit difficult getting any good shots of the fish. The wild life has a tendency to dart away just when you press the shutter.
Urchin1.jpg
I just had to take another picture of a sea urchin. At least they will sit still long enough to get a decent picture. 🙂
Infinity Pool
There are two infinity pools (one slightly above and behind the other) on the edge of the resort overlooking the sea.
Another view from the pool side
This is the view over the left of the lower infinity pool. The structure on the left is the veranda from the pool side bar.
View from Inside a Garden Villa
This is a view from the bedroom of our villa through the folding doors to the lounge and another set of folding doors to the outside.
Fish
There's a great variety of wildlife in the Caribbean. Apparently, more than 700 marine species can be seen around the islands.

Angry Looking Fish
This guy doesn't look pleased to see me! I think he probably looks that way all the time. Or is it a she? I can't tell.
Heart Urchin
This is the urchin's empty shell. Extremely delicate things they are too.
Flying Gurnard
I love this shot although I could have done with getting closer. This is a crop from the original photo.
The Flying Gurnard is a beautiful looking fish when it spreads its fins out like this. With its fins folded back it's pretty boring and well camouflaged..
Fish Scape
Another seascape with fish. Don't ask me to identify them; I'm not that good yet.
Spotted Eel
At first glance of this photo you might think you're looking at rocks, anemones and a couple of sea fans. But if you look closer you might spot the spotted eel (sorry about the bad pun but I couldn't resist).
Take a look near the centre top of the photo.
Cow Fish
This is the first of a number of photos I got of cow fish. They are a weird creature with distinctive horn like protuberances over the eyes.
Cow Fish Second Shot
I kept trying to get to the side or in front of one of these but they just kept swimming away from me.
Brain Coral
Unfortunately the focus on this pic isn't too great. I'll do better next time.
Flounder
When Alex pointed at the patch of sand in the sea grass I thought he was drawing my attention to something on the edge of it. I was right over this flounder yet it took me a minute to see it.
Banded Fish
This looks like it could be a banded butterfly fish but I could be wrong.
Yellotail Snapper
I quickly snapped this shoal of yellowtails as they passe by.
You Lookin at Me?
Not sure what this is but it definitely had its beady eye on me.
Squid
When I took this picture I didn't realise that it was a squid. I just saw something interesting and grabbed a snapshot.
Another Squid
I tried very hard to get a decent picture of a squid. Unfortunately, they can swim a lot faster than I can. This is one of the best I managed but it's still a little out of focus.
Blue Cowfish from the side
This is a better shot of this Cowfish. It seems that blue is a popular colour for Caribbean marine life.
Field of Tube Coral
I like this shot for its surreal feeling. It seems to emphasise how different the underwater world is to the one we're used to.
Another Flying Gurnard
I tried to get a closer picture of a Flying Gurnard so that I'd have a better resolution shot. Unfortunately, the wildlife doesn't always cooperate by staying still and posing. Still, I like this shot as a kind of abstract
Lizard
There were lots of these little guys around. They seemed almost as curious about us as we were about them.
Lisa and Ray
Port Royal Jetty
This jetty was built for the film 'Pirates of the Caribbean - Curse of the Black Pearl'. It was originally much bigger than this but a large portion was destroyed by a hurricane. This is the jetty that Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) landed at at the beginning of the film.
The rock on the far right of this picture next to the cliff is Elephant Rock. Jack Sparrow took his hat off to three skeletons of pirates that were hung beneath this rock.
Port Royal Set
This is one of the buildings that was created for the film Pirates of the Caribbean - Curse of the Black Pearl. It's really just an empty shell but it looks impressive.
Volcano
St Vincent has its own dormant volcano on the north side of the island. This is about the closest we came to it on our way to Dark View Falls
Dark View Falls
The water in this waterfall is not as cold as it looks. There's apparently another even more impressive fall higher up the hillside but it was raining the day we went and the pathway is treacherous so we didn't get to see it.
